ABUJA, NIGERIA —The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced a ₦6.452 billion allocation to support 271 public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education as part of its 2026 intervention programme aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s tertiary education sector. [1]
According to details shared by TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny Echono at a strategic meeting in Abuja, the funds are intended to improve physical infrastructure, enhance academic programmes, boost research and innovation, and drive overall transformation in beneficiary institutions nationwide. [1]Under the 2026 disbursement guidelines approved by President Bola Tinubu, each university will receive approximately ₦2.525 billion, polytechnics ₦1.871 billion, and colleges of education ₦2.056 billion.
