The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a major breakthrough in its anti-narcotics campaign in Adamawa State, with the seizure of 1,396.5 kilograms of illicit drugs and the arrest of 150 suspects in December alone. In a statement issued by the NDLEA Adamawa State Commander, Femi Agboalu, the confiscated substances include cannabis sativa, Tramadol, Rohypnol, Diazepam, and various synthetic opioids. The arrests comprise both users and traffickers, with several cases already under prosecution.Commander Agboalu noted that the successful operation was a result of intensified intelligence-driven efforts, community collaboration, and increased patrols across known trafficking routes and hot spots in the state.“
This is part of our strategic efforts to cut off the supply and demand chain in Adamawa and across Nigeria. We will not relent,” Agboalu stated. He also commended the cooperation of local communities and urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards, emphasizing that drug abuse poses a significant threat to the future of the youth and national security.
This development aligns with NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa’s nationwide directive to clamp down on drug cartels and ensure safer communities.
