JAMB Warns Against Biodata Changes, Double Registration for 2026 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a strong warning to prospective candidates of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE), cautioning against biodata alterations, multiple registrations, and identity fraud during the registration process.In a statement released by JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin , the Board reiterated that any changes to a candidate’s biodata—such as name, date of birth, state or local government of origin—will not be allowed after registration. The warning follows past cases where candidates attempted to manipulate identity details post-registration, which JAMB said undermines the integrity of the admission process. Furthermore, double registration—where a candidate registers more than once either for the same or different examinations—is strictly prohibited. JAMB warned that any candidate found guilty of such offenses will be disqualified and may face prosecution. The Board emphasized that registration is tied to candidates’ National Identification Number (NIN), ensuring uniqueness and accountability in the examination process.

JAMB urged candidates to take extreme care during the registration process and avoid patronizing cyber cafés or agents not accredited by the Board. It also reiterated that all registration must be done only at JAMB-accredited centres nationwide. The move is part of JAMB’s continued efforts to enhance transparency, curb malpractice, and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.
