The Kwara State House of Assembly has formally approved the 2026 Appropriation Bill, a revised budget totalling โฆ656.5โฏbillion, marking an upward adjustment of โฆ10.5โฏbillion from the figure originally proposed by the governorโs office.
The passage came on Friday, January 30, 2026, following detailed deliberations and the presentation of the Committee on Finance and Appropriationโs report during plenary session.

Assemblyโs Justification & Oversight
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, explained that the budgetโs upward revision was the result of meticulous scrutiny and an effort to ensure fiscal realism and alignment with Kwaraโs development priorities. He said the adjustments will help fast-track critical investment in infrastructure and public services.
He added that the legislature will continue to maintain strong oversight to ensure the prudent and efficient implementation of the budget for the benefit of all residents of the state.
