Hajiya Sutura Shehu-Shagari, the last surviving wife of Nigeria’s Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, has passed away at the age of 89.
The news was confirmed on Monday by the Shagari family, who announced that she died peacefully at her residence in Sokoto after a brief illness.
“We lost a matriarch, a mother, and a pillar of the Shagari family,” a relative said.
