Electric Bike Donation by Rep. Alfred Ajang Sparks Mixed Reactions — Sele Calls for Strategic Solutions

A recent empowerment initiative by Hon. Alfred Ajang, the Member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, has stirred mixed reactions both online and within the constituency.
The lawmaker reportedly distributed electric motorbikes worth millions of naira to selected constituents—a gesture covered by Tudun Wada Broadcast and shared widely on social media.
While some citizens have praised the move as a commendable effort to support local economic mobility, others argue it misses the mark in addressing the region’s more pressing needs.
John Sele Philip, a concerned citizen from Jos South and the CEO of Content Creators Hub, voiced his reaction publicly via a post on Facebook (link), stating:
“I saw on Tudun Wada Broadcast that our Member, House of Representatives, Hon. Alfred Ajang, distributed motorbikes to some constituents. While such gestures may offer short-term relief, they fall short of addressing the pressing issues in Jos South/Jos East.”
Sele went on to list specific and ongoing challenges across the constituency, including:
- Insecurity in communities like Kuru and Gyel
- Bad roads in Bukuru and Rafan
- Widespread youth unemployment
- Lack of access to clean water in parts of Jos East
He acknowledged that Hon. Ajang has sponsored significant bills—such as those proposing the Federal University of Solid Minerals in Bukuru and a Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery in Fobur, along with advocacy for road infrastructure development.
However, Sele called for more focused and strategic leadership that aligns with the constituency’s most urgent priorities.
“We urge him to also focus on initiatives that directly address our immediate needs—like security, job creation, and basic infrastructure,” he added.
As Plateau residents gear up for more political engagement ahead of 2027, voices like Sele’s reflect a growing demand for development-driven representation over symbolic handouts.
