NMDPRA, NUPRC Chiefs Resign as Tinubu Names New Oil Regulators

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate’s approval of new chief executives for Nigeria’s key oil regulatory agencies following the resignation of the top officials of theNigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The move signals a significant shake‑up in the country’s petroleum regulatory framework. [1]Engineer Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the NMDPRA, and Gbenga Komolafe, the CEO of the NUPRC, both stepped down from their positions on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, after serving since their appointments under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in 2021. [1]In separate letters transmitted to the Senate, the President forwarded the names of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as the next CEO of the NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammef as the new CEO of the NMDPRA, describing both nominees as seasoned professionals with extensive experience in the oil and gas sector.
