“You Want to Be President with 14,603 Votes” — Wike’s Aide Lere Tackles Sowore for Calling Tinubu “Criminal”!

Abuja, Nigeria – Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has fired back at Omoyele Sowore after the activist called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a “criminal.” Olayinka criticized Sowore’s post, describing it as hypocrisy, especially given Sowore’s relatively low vote count of 14,603. [1]In his response, Olayinka accused Sowore of preaching democracy while failing to practice the values himself. He said that despite being the presidential candidate and party chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) since 2018, Sowore has consolidated so much power within the party that no one else is trusted with leadership roles. [1]He continued: “With his 14,603 votes, he wants to be President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker and Chief Justice of Nigeria.” Lere’s statement was made in reaction to a message from INEC identifying Sowore as both the AAC Presidential Candidate and National Chairman. [1]The controversy stems from Sowore’s social media post on August 25, 2025, where he wrote: “This criminal @officialPBAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!” The DSS has since filed charges against Sowore, accusing him of defamation and false claims against the president. [2]For updates and reactions,
