Nigerian billionaire and business mogul, Femi Otedola, gave an emotional and controversial speech at the wedding of his daughter Temi Otedola, advising her to submit fully to her husband, singer and actor Tosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi.

In the heartfelt address, Otedola expressed his admiration for the love shared by the couple and praised their compatibility, describing the union as “made in heaven.”

“Temi, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. You found a great guy. Very great guy. Blessed guy. He comes from a very decent family,” he said.

However, what stirred the most attention was his advice to Temi on marriage:
“One thing I will advise you, Temi, is… You have to succumb to the whims and curses of your husband. Okay? He is your husband and he is your boss. There is no more daddy. Don’t come here.”

The statement, though seemingly traditional, has drawn both support and criticism on social media, with many debating the message of submission in modern marriages.

Otedola went on to commend the entrepreneurial spirit of both Temi and Mr Eazi:

“Temi is an entrepreneur. Tosin is an entrepreneur. So you match each other… Tosin, you are going to go places. I have seen the entrepreneurial skill in you.”

He also gave advice on managing marital conflict:
“Continue to love. When you have issues, problems, just keep it within yourself. Never call any friend. Just keep it within your walls. And God will bless you and bless your marriage.”

Concluding his speech, Otedola thanked guests and expressed his love and appreciation:
“I thank you all. And I wish you safe travels back to various places you have come from. God bless you all. I love you all. Thank you all.”

The speech has since gone viral, igniting conversations about love, family, tradition, and gender roles in African marriages.
