FRSC Warns Motorists of Gully Erosion on Onitsha–Owerri Road!

Reported by Marian opeyemi fasesan | Sele Media Africa

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued an urgent warning to motorists using the Onitsha–Owerri Road over a gully erosion that has rendered part of the Ozubulu end in Ekwusigo LGA, Anambra State, impassable.

Details:

  • The erosion has eaten up an entire lane, posing serious risks to commuters, especially during rainfall and at night.
  • The FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra, Adeoye Irelewuyi, urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, and obey traffic signs and diversions around the affected area.
  • The Corps is working with the Federal Ministry of Works and state authorities to install warning signs and seek urgent intervention.

Why It Matters:

  • The Onitsha–Owerri Road is a major commercial route linking the South-East to other regions.
  • The damage threatens not only public safety but also economic activities in the area.
  • Residents are calling on the federal government to fix the erosion-prone section before the situation worsens.
