Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa

Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa escaped unharmed following what officials describe as an attempted attack on his motorcade on Tuesday in the Cañar province. Environment and Energy Minister Inés Manzano confirmed that his vehicle bore signs of bullet damage, though no injuries were reported. [1]

The attack reportedly involved a crowd of around 500 people who hurled rocks and possibly fired shots at his convoy as he arrived for an event. [2] President Noboa’s team released video footage showing protesters throwing projectiles at his SUV, shattering windows and damaging windshields. [2]

Following the incident, authorities detained five suspects in connection with the attack. A formal report of an assassination attempt was filed by the government. [1]

This event comes amid widespread protests across Ecuador over the removal of diesel subsidies, which have been marked by road blockades, clashes with security forces, and accusations of repression.
