Bring Proof of Your Assassination Attempt – Osun Police Tell Amotekun Boss
By David Joshua | Sele Media Africa
The Osun State Police Command has called on the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Isaac Omoyele, to provide concrete evidence to support his claim of an assassination attempt on his life.
This follows reports that Omoyele narrowly escaped an attack by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Osogbo. The Amotekun Corps had alleged that the commander was ambushed along Ikirun Road on Monday night and that his official vehicle was riddled with bullets.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Command said it had invited the Amotekun boss to present proof of the incident, including medical reports, photographs of the vehicle, eyewitness accounts, or any CCTV footage that may aid investigation.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and upholding the rule of law,” the police said. “But we require verifiable information to commence a thorough investigation.”
Amotekun, in its earlier reaction, said Omoyele also faced a second attempt later that night when masked men reportedly stormed his residence. He is said to be receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.
The corps has since called on security agencies to treat the incident with urgency, citing threats to the lives of its officers.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.
