The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, declared on Tuesday that no previous administration in the FCT has matched the record of projects executed under President Bola Tinubu’s government. [1]
Speaking during the commissioning of engineering infrastructure in Wuye District, Abuja, Wike listed several ongoing and completed projects — including 12 new roads across various districts, “Lot 1” of the “Light Up Abuja” solar street‑lighting initiative, access roads to Mabushi Bus Terminal, expansion of water supply to satellite towns, and the construction of a 600‑bed hostel for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari. [1]
He challenged anyone to identify a previous administration that has achieved such scale of delivery, insisting:
“If there is any administration since the inception of the FCT that has beaten this record of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, let him speak up now or forever remain silent.” [1]
Wike also noted that the road project in Wuye had been awarded back in 2009 and only completed under the current government, using it as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to delivering results in the FCT. [1]
According to Wike, the administration has also spent more than ₦300 billion on satellite town development within the territory between January 2024 and January 2025 — with over ₦50 billion going into the Gwagwalada Area Council alone. [2]
While the claims signal bold optimism about the FCT’s transformation, governance analysts point out that such announcements must be matched with transparent procurement, timely completion, and ongoing maintenance to deliver lasting benefits for residents.
