Governor Okpebholo redeploys key commissioners to strengthen governance
Benin City — Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at enhancing governmental coordination and service delivery, according to an official statement issued by the Edo State Government.
The reshuffle, conveyed in a letter dated January 29, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, takes effect from January 30, 2026.
Under the new arrangement:
Vincent Osas Uwadiae, formerly Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, has been redeployed as Commissioner for Lands and Housing.
Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, who previously headed the Ministry of Lands and Housing, has been appointed Chief of Staff to Governor Okpebholo.
Gani Audu, former Chief of Staff to the Governor, has been nominated as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence that the strategic redeployments will strengthen coordination, improve policy execution, and enhance the overall effectiveness of governance in the state.
Political analysts say the cabinet adjustment forms part of the governor’s broader effort to streamline administrative operations and align executive leadership with Edo State’s development priorities.
Further details are expected following the legislative confirmation of the new nominee for the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources.
