Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that powerful cabals within Aso Rock frustrated former President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to appoint Chief Audu Ogbe as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

According to El-Rufai, Ogbe was considered “too independent-minded” to be controlled, a trait that reportedly did not sit well with the cabals, who preferred someone they could manipulate. This claim has rekindled heated debate over the influence of unelected power blocs during Buhari’s administration.

The revelation has sparked fresh conversations among Nigerians about the hidden hands shaping governance, with many questioning whether the country can ever truly be free from the grip of political cabals.
