The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd.), has raised the alarm over the growing rate of drug abuse among Nigerian youth, warning that it poses a grave threat to the nationโs future.
Speaking at a public sensitization event on Tuesday, Marwa stated that Nigeria cannot afford to ignore the alarming trend of substance abuse, especially among its productive population.
โThe future of Nigeria is at risk if we continue to lose our youth to drugs. We must act decisively and collaboratively to reverse this dangerous trajectory,โ he said.
He called on communities, parents, religious leaders, and policymakers to intensify efforts in education, prevention, and rehabilitation.
