Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has warned that individuals who work against Nigeria’s sovereignty and unity would be treated as enemies of the state. The stern message was delivered Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi during the General Assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council. [1]
Addressing traditional rulers and security stakeholders, Musa reiterated the Armed Forces’ commitment to defending the country’s territorial integrity, urging all citizens to join hands in preserving peace and stability. [1] He specifically stated:
“Anyone found doing anything negative against the government and the sovereignty of Nigeria is an enemy of the state, and we will go after such person.” [1]
The CDS praised the Sultan of Sokoto and other northern traditional rulers for their ongoing role in promoting harmony and moral leadership in their communities. [1] He described traditional rulers as essential partners in the fight against criminality and social decay. [1]
Calling the security landscape of 2025 demanding, Musa urged troops to act decisively against criminals threatening life and property. He affirmed that no member of the Armed Forces is above orders to act against those undermining national security. [1]
As Nigeria faces growing internal security challenges — including insurgency, banditry, and communal violence — the CDS’s declaration underscores the growing resolve of the military’s top command to confront those who betray national interests.
