Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Kaduna State to attend the wedding of Halima Amira Junaid, the granddaughter of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. The wedding ceremony, known as the Fatiha, took place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Yahaya Road Juma’at Mosque in Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna.

The Vice President was received at the airport by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and other members of the State Executive Council. Also present were Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff, State House, and Hon. Usman Ali Zannah, representing the Kaga/Gubio/Magumeri Federal Constituency. Additionally, Senator Ahmed Sa’idu Alkali, the Ministers for Transport and Environment, were in attendance.

The groom, Walid Shehu Mauzu, is the son of Iyan Katagum, a prominent figure in the region. The wedding has attracted significant attention, with dignitaries and well-wishers from across the country converging in Kaduna to celebrate the union.
In a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, the Vice President extended his best wishes to the couple, stating, “This is wishing the couple a most blissful marital life.”

The wedding ceremony was preceded by a series of pre-wedding activities, including a bridal soiree, a Kamu ceremony, and a grand dinner, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the families involved.
