The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, calling him “a towering figure in the Church in Nigeria” and a spiritual father to millions.

CAN’s Statement:

In a tribute released on Monday, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh said:
“Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was more than a preacher — he was a national pillar of faith, peace, and revival. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched across generations.”

Why It Matters:

  • Ukpai’s death on October 6, 2025, at age 80, marks the end of an era for Pentecostal evangelism in Nigeria.
  • CAN noted his role in unifying churches across denominations and his commitment to national intercession.

Upcoming Events:

  • CAN has pledged to participate fully in his funeral rites and urged churches nationwide to observe a moment of prayer in his honour.
