Troops Repel Bandit Attack in Niger State, Recover Weapons
Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating in Niger State, successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by armed bandits in the Babana axis, close to the Nigeria-Benin Republic border.
During the intense operation, two of the bandits were neutralized, and a significant cache of arms was recovered, including an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, and over 380 rounds of ammunition. The swift and coordinated response by the troops prevented what could have been a deadly incursion into the region.
Unfortunately, an officer and a soldier sustained leg injuries during the exchange. Both are currently receiving medical treatment and are reportedly in stable condition.
The Brigade Commander commended the gallantry and resilience of the troops, assuring residents of continued aggressive operations to secure the area and dismantle criminal elements threatening peace and stability in Niger State and beyond.
This successful counter-operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to combating banditry and restoring safety across vulnerable communities.
