Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai under the 21 Special Armoured Brigade successfully thwarted a planned Boko Haram attack in the Kashimri general area of Bama Local Government Area, Borno State on 17 October 2025. [1]
According to a statement by Lt. Col. Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the troops located and destroyed identified Boko Haram camps, disrupting terrorists’ plans to target civilians and suspend socio‑economic activities. [1]
In the operation, several insurgents were neutralised, while other casualties were sustained. Tragically, the Commanding Officer of the 202 Tank Battalion, Lt. Col. Aliyu Paiko, and other soldiers paid the ultimate sacrifice. [1]
The army has reassured the public of its unrelenting resolve to eliminate terrorist threats and restore normalcy across the region. Civilians were also urged to avoid publishing images of fallen soldiers until their next of kin are informed, to preserve dignity and privacy. [1]
