Taraba State — Nigerian troops from the 6 Brigade, under Operation Whirl Stroke, have apprehended a high‑profile terrorist suspect following credible intelligence that pointed to impending attacks on civilians in the region. The arrest occurred on 18 September 2025 at Takum Junction, Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State. The suspect, Saawuan Wuaiyolna, aged 35, from Ateryange community in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, was riding a motorcycle at the time of his arrest. According to military sources, Wuaiyolna is a key member of the gang led by the wanted criminal Akiki Utivi, also known as “Full Fire.” He had allegedly infiltrated Wukari to perform surveillance of troop movements to facilitate coordinated attacks on civilians. The military describes this arrest as a major blow to the gang’s operational capabilities in Taraba State. Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the troops for the intelligence‑led operation and reiterated his commitment to restoring security in the affected areas. Residents are encouraged to continue cooperating with security forces by supplying credible information that could prevent attacks and support ongoing operations.
