Tragic Road Accident in Kano State Claims At Least 30 Lives!

At least 30 persons have been confirmed dead following a devastating road accident in Kwanar Barde, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, early Sunday morning.
The tragic incident occurred when a trailer reportedly lost control along the highway and crashed, leading to a mass casualty situation, according to official sources.
A statement issued by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, confirmed the incident and disclosed that several others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state.
Governor Yusuf described the accident as “heartbreaking and a great loss” to affected families and the entire Kano community. He extended condolences to the bereaved and urged motorists to strictly adhere to road safety regulations to prevent future tragedies.
In response to the incident, the governor ordered free medical treatment for all survivors and directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure immediate and adequate care for the injured. The Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs was also instructed to assess the situation and provide necessary support to victims’ families.
Reports indicate that the trailer was heading toward Gujungu in neighboring Jigawa State when it lost control, with preliminary findings attributing the crash to reckless driving. The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and enforcement of traffic laws in Nigeria.
Emergency responders and security agencies continue to manage the aftermath of the crash as investigations remain ongoing.
