Tinubu Visits Buhari’s Widow, Promises to Preserve Ex-President’s Legacy
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari during a condolence visit to the late leader’s family residence in Daura, Katsina State.
The visit, which took place on Friday, September 20, 2025, was to console the widow of the former president, Aisha Buhari, following the recent passing of Buhari. Tinubu, accompanied by senior government officials, emphasized the enduring contributions of Buhari to Nigeria’s democratic development and national security architecture.
“President Muhammadu Buhari dedicated his life to the service of this country. His patriotism, discipline, and leadership will continue to guide us. I have come to assure the family that we will continue to honour his legacy and protect what he stood for,” Tinubu said during the visit, as reported by The Nation.
Aisha Buhari, visibly moved, thanked the President for his thoughtful visit and pledged continued support for the administration’s efforts in sustaining Buhari’s national vision.
Tinubu also met with traditional and political leaders in Daura to discuss initiatives that will commemorate Buhari’s service, including plans to establish a national leadership institute in his name.
This visit marks a significant gesture in maintaining the political alliance and legacy continuity between the two influential leaders of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
