Tems Makes History as Most Certified Nigerian Female Artist in U.S. with Over 11 Million Units Sold!

Award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has reached a remarkable career milestone by becoming the most certified Nigerian female artist in the United States, with over 11 million certified units sold.
According to recent data from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Tems now boasts seven RIAA certifications, a feat that solidifies her position as one of the most influential African artists on the global stage.
This achievement includes certifications for hit tracks such as “Essence” with Wizkid and Justin Bieber, “Free Mind”, and her collaboration on “Wait for U” with Future and Drake, which earned her a Grammy Award. Notably, “Essence” was the first African song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for several consecutive weeks, gaining global acclaim.
Tems rise to international prominence has been meteoric. Since her breakout success in 2020, she has featured on major global projects, including soundtracks for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and has worked with top artists such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Drake,and Future.
