The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the commencement of a 10-day maintenance operation on the Gombe transmission substation, a key power facility supplying electricity to the state and surrounding areas.

What We Know:

  • The scheduled maintenance began on October 15, 2025, and will last until October 25, 2025.
  • TCN says the exercise is aimed at enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the substation’s infrastructure.
  • Critical components, including circuit breakers and transformers, will undergo upgrades and technical checks.

Impact:

  • Power supply to parts of Gombe metropolis and nearby local government areas will be disrupted intermittently.
  • Businesses and residents have been advised to plan for alternative power sources during this period.

Official Statement:

  • TCN’s North-East Regional Manager, Engr. Usman Waziri, assured that “all efforts will be made to minimize disruption and complete the work on schedule.”

Why It Matters:

  • The Gombe substation is a key node in Nigeria’s North-East power grid.
  • Regular maintenance is vital to preventing system collapse and ensuring long-term grid stability.
