Strike: NANS Gives ASUU, FG 7-Day Ultimatum to Resolve Dispute!
Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a stern seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve their lingering disputes or face mass student protests nationwide.
What We Know:
- The warning follows fears of an imminent ASUU strike over unmet agreements and withheld salaries.
- NANS President, Lucky Emonefe, said students would not tolerate another disruption of academic activities.
- He urged both parties to prioritize dialogue and act in the interest of the nation’s youth.
Why It Matters:
- Nigerian universities are still recovering from the 8-month ASUU strike of 2022.
- Any fresh disruption could further delay graduations, affect NYSC mobilization, and fuel student unrest.
