
Soldiers Kill Bandit, Recover Weapons in Plateau Ambush

Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP), have killed a bandit and seized weapons in a successful ambush in Odare Forest, Dutsen Zaki, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for JTF OPEP, said the operation was intelligence‑based and carried out on Tuesday along routes leading into Odare Forest. During a brief encounter, troops intercepted bandits travelling on motorcycles; one assailant was neutralised while others escaped with serious gunshot wounds into the dense forest.Among the items recovered from the scene were a motorcycle, two mobile phones, a machete, and charms abandoned by the fleeing bandits.In a related development, the troops also conducted operations around Garga, Showaka, Yuli, and Kukawa villages spanning Wase and Kanam local governments, where they recovered a G3 rifle, a G3 magazine, and three rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition.Major Zhakom emphasized that these efforts are part of the ongoing campaign to deny bandits freedom of movement and dismantle their networks in the Joint Operations Area. Troops have urged local residents to provide credible intelligence to assist further operations.
