“Ruto Is Our Problem, Just Like the Devil” – Rigathi Gachagua Defends Repeated Criticism!
Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa
Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again stirred national conversation following a fiery response during an interview, where he was questioned over his consistent criticism of President William Ruto.
When asked why he frequently targets Ruto in his public remarks, Gachagua defended his stance by likening Ruto to a persistent adversary:
“I have no choice because he is our problem,” Gachagua responded.
“Since I started going to Church at the age of 6 and today I’m 60 years old and still going to church, and every Sunday, we attack the devil because he is our problem. Unless you are telling me that we stop attacking the devil because we’ve attacked him enough times.”
The statement has gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from Kenyans. While some praised Gachagua’s boldness, others criticized him for inflaming political tensions rather than promoting solutions.
This latest remark continues a growing rift between the Deputy President and his boss, President Ruto. Political analysts say the tensions could significantly shape the 2027 election landscape.
According to The Nation Kenya, the UDA party has witnessed increasing internal division since late 2024, with Mount Kenya leaders expressing dissatisfaction with Ruto’s leadership and alleged marginalization of their region.
Gachagua’s remarks also echo sentiments he made earlier this month, where he accused the President of betrayal and undermining regional unity within the ruling coalition (source: Citizen TV Kenya).
With mounting criticism from opposition and now from within, Ruto’s administration may face growing instability unless reconciliation efforts begin internally.
Sele Media Africa will continue monitoring the political fallout.
