President Tinubu Defends Fairness in Project Allocation Across Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable development, insisting that every region of Nigeria is receiving fair attention in federal project distribution.

In a statement delivered by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the Federal Government outlined a series of major infrastructure projects as evidence of this balanced approach. Among the highlighted projects are the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway in the South and the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway in the North—two initiatives described as cornerstones of the administration’s inclusive growth strategy.

To further support its claim of equity, the government disclosed figures showing how funds have been allocated across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The North-West leads with ₦5.97 trillion, followed by the South-South with ₦2.41 trillion. The North-Central has received ₦1.13 trillion, South-West (excluding Lagos) ₦604 billion, South-East ₦407 billion, and the North-East ₦400 billion.

The Tinubu-led government has also established five new regional development commissions, alongside the newly created Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, aimed at addressing region-specific challenges and fostering long-term national cohesion.

These efforts, the Minister emphasized, are rooted in the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which seeks to build a more united, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria—where no region is left behind in national development.
