Police Yet to Receive Court Order on Tinted‑Glass Permits — FPRO!
Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa
The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it has not yet been formally served with any court order suspending the enforcement of the tinted‑glass permit policy. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, clarified that merely hearing reports of a court ruling does not change their operational status.
“A court order must be served to us in certified form before it can be enforced,” Adejobi said, adding that until such a document is official, the policy remains alive.
This statement comes amid a Federal High Court ruling in Delta State, where the court directed the police to suspend enforcement of the tinted permit requirement and maintain the status quo pending further proceedings. [1]
The tinted‑glass permit scheme, reintroduced earlier this year, mandates that motorists apply for permission to use tinted windows. Many have challenged its legality, arguing that the policy violates rights to privacy and movement. The court’s interim order is currently pushing for clarity while the substantive case is adjudicated.
