Police detain 52 suspects, recover guns in Enugu!

In a major security breakthrough, the Enugu State Police Command has arrested 52 suspects, recovered firearms and ammunition, and successfully rescued three kidnapped victims in a series of coordinated operations carried out across the state.
According to the weekly crime statistics and operational achievements released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests and rescue operations were conducted between January 24 and January 30, 2026.
Details of the Operation
52 suspects were apprehended in connection with various criminal activities, including armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, cultism, and other offenses.
Police operatives recovered one firearm and 20 rounds of ammunition of different calibres during the operations.
Six stolen vehicles were also recovered as exhibits.
Three kidnapped victims were rescued from criminal hideouts and reunited with their families, thanks to intelligence-led efforts and sustained operations by the command.
In a statement accompanying the weekly report, SP Ndukwe highlighted the dedication of police personnel, improved intelligence gathering, and collaboration with other security agencies as key factors driving the success of these operations.

SP Ndukwe reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across Enugu State, urging citizens to continue providing timely and credible information that enhances proactive policing and rapid response to criminal activities.
The authorities reaffirmed that the fight against violent crime, particularly kidnapping and armed robbery, remains a top priority, with sustained operations planned across all divisions of the state.
