GOMBE — The Gombe State Police Command has debunked viral social media reports alleging that gunmen attacked an ECWA Church in Kashere, located in Akko Local Government Area of the state. In a statement issued on Sunday, the police described the claim as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.

Police Statement

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mahid Abubakar, security operatives thoroughly investigated the report and found no evidence of any attack on the church or its congregation. “The report is entirely false. There was no attack on ECWA Church or any place of worship in Kashere. Our patrol teams are active in the area, and we urge citizens to remain calm,”he said

He further warned against the spread of fake news, which he noted could disrupt public peace and distract security agencies from genuine threats.
