Police Arrest Notorious Drug Dealer, Five Suspected Thugs in Kano

KANO STATE, NIGERIA — The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious drug dealer and five suspected thugs during a targeted operation carried out by officers attached to the Jaoji Police Division in Kano metropolis. The breakthrough forms part of intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking and violent crime within the state. [1]According to the police, the operation on January 10, 2026 led to the arrest of Hafizu Ali, a 25‑year‑old resident of Jaoji Quarters, described by law enforcement as a notorious drug dealer. Alongside him, five other suspects believed to be remnants of criminal thuggery were apprehended. A large cache of illicit substances and dangerous weapons was recovered during the raid, including 2,070 capsules of suspected Pregabalin and 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa from the drug dealer and knives, scissors and an axe from the suspected thugs. The operation was conducted under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, consistent with directives from the Inspector‑General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intensify crime prevention efforts across Nigeria. CP Bakori commended the professionalism of the officers involved and appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be charged in court upon conclusion of police enquiries. [1]
