Police Arrest Four Suspected Drug Peddlers, Recover ₦1.8m in Enugu

Enugu, Nigeria — January 27, 2026 — The Enugu State Police Command has arrested four suspected drug peddlers in a series of intelligence-led operations across Enugu metropolis, seizing ₦1.8 million, large quantities of cannabis, and other hard drugs.
According to the police, the arrests were made during coordinated raids by the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team and the Anti-Cultism Squad.

The first arrest was made on January 26, 2026, at about 11:30 a.m., at a suspected drug hideout behind New Market, Enugu, where a 46-year-old woman, Omeru Nkechi, was apprehended. Exhibits recovered included:
One large sack of suspected Indian hemp
Electronic wires and a water-pumping machine
A POS machine, two ATM cards
A total of ₦1,800,000 in cash
In a related operation on January 25, 2026, at about 9:00 a.m., police stormed locations in Obeagu, Asata, and the Holy Ghost Railway Area, arresting three male suspects:
Anielozie Emmanuel (21)
Ekoh Miracle (20)
Nwachukwu Michael (27) — alleged member of the Vikings Confraternity
Recovered from these suspects were:
32 small containers and one sachet of suspected cannabis
12 wrapped pills suspected to be hard drugs
Police Response:
The Command’s Spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, said the operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks and curb crime in Enugu State.
