Phanny Milkish Reacts to Gehgeh’s Advice: “Women Must Add Value Too”

A trending Facebook post by user Phanny Milkish has sparked wide discussion online after she weighed in on the controversial financial advice given by popular social commentator Gehgeh.

According to Phanny, Gehgeh’s message goes beyond men—it speaks directly to women about purpose and value.

“All Gehgeh is saying is for us as ladies to make ourselves useful to our men, have something going for ourselves, and add more value to our being,” she wrote.

Gehgeh had advised men not to sponsor women through school but to instead invest in livestock like goats and cows to generate income. He also cautioned men against spending heavily on women who offer little in return, joking that some only give boxers as gifts.

Phanny, however, sees deeper meaning in his words.

“As women, we should have something going for us, no matter how small. It creates impact, respect, and dignity,” she added.
“I find his teachings enlightening for women more than men. We need to step up in our financial sector.” She ended her post by pledging to spread this message like a song until women take ownership of their financial independence.

The post has generated mixed reactions, with many supporting the call for women to be more financially responsible, while others question the tone of Gehgeh’s original statements.

Sele Media Africa will continue to follow the debate as it unfolds.
