In a dramatic incident aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Abuja on October 8, 2025, a passenger was arrested after allegedly stealing ₦290,000 from a foreign traveller just before takeoff. [1]
Eyewitnesses say the alarm was raised when the victim discovered money missing from his bag stowed in the overhead compartment. Cabin crew intervened immediately. [2]
Initially, the suspect denied involvement and their hand luggage revealed nothing. But tensions rose when other passengers suggested a more thorough search. The stolen cash was eventually found hidden in the suspect’s socks and under their seat. [1]
Airport security was alerted. The suspect was escorted off the aircraft and handed over to aviation authorities for further investigation. [3]
The incident caused a brief delay, but the flight later departed for Abuja. As of now, Ibom Air has not issued an official statement. [3]
