Onanuga Blasts Aloy Ejimakor for Joining Omoyele Sowore‑Led Protest Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention

Nigeria – Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has sharply criticised Aloy Ejimakor, one of Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers, for participating in the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest organised by Omoyele Sowore. Onanuga described Ejimakor’s involvement as “shambolic” and in breach of legal ethics under the principle of sub judice. [1]

The protest, held in Abuja, demanded the release of Kanu, detained since 2021 and charged with treason and terrorism. Onanuga argued that a lawyer in such a case should focus on court defence rather than public demonstrations, and asked legal regulatory bodies to consider sanctions against Ejimakor. [2]
