Former Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has said that the commendable performance of his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, over the past two years validates his decision to back him in the 2023 governorship election. [1]
Speaking in Asaba during a courtesy visit organized by the Ukodo Nation Forum, Okowa praised Oborevwori’s infrastructure projects, saying that the transformation of the Ughelli–Asaba road alone “speaks volumes.” [1]
He also noted that early criticisms of Oborevwori were rooted in “class prejudice,” insisting that leadership should be judged by performance, not background. [1]
The Ukodo Nation Forum had honored Okowa for what they described as his foresight in selecting Oborevwori as his successor. [1]
Okowa’s remarks come amid increasing political realignments in Delta State and broader regional discourse about continuity, competence, and the importance of selecting successors based on merit rather than solely on political convenience.
