NSCDC Launches Manhunt for Attackers of Jigawa Polytechnic Students
Hadejia, Jigawa State – September 28, 2025 The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has commenced a manhunt for unidentified assailants who attacked a rented male hostel housing students of Bilyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia. According to the NSCDC Commandant, Muhammad Ibrahim, the incident occurred on Thursday night along the Hadejia–Malam Madori Road, leaving several students injured and property destroyed. “We have deployed tactical operatives to track down and apprehend those responsible for this heinous attack,” Ibrahim stated. Eyewitnesses said the attackers, armed with clubs and machetes, stormed the hostel around midnight, causing panic among the students. A few sustained injuries while trying to flee. No deaths have been reported so far. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though security agencies suspect it could be linked to cult clashes or local criminal elements. The school management has called for calm while urging security agencies to fast-track investigations. NSCDC has assured the public that all efforts are being made to restore security and bring the perpetrators to justice. “We urge anyone with useful information to come forward,” the NSCDC command appealed.
