Nigeria @ 65: Adeleke Pardons 36 Convicts in Osun State!
Reported by David Joshua | Sele Media Africa
In commemoration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has granted state pardon to 36 convicts serving various jail terms in the state’s two correctional centres.
The announcement was made following recommendations by the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, which considered inmates based on age, health status, time served, and conduct while in custody. Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of second chances and urged the beneficiaries to reintegrate into society as responsible citizens.
This act of clemency is part of ongoing criminal justice reforms in Osun State, aimed at promoting rehabilitation and easing congestion in correctional facilities.
