The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Okolonkwo Ebere Theresa, a 30-year-old woman, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, for attempting to traffic 1.40kg of methamphetamine concealed in padded underwear.
She was apprehended on 14th September 2025 while preparing to board a Qatar Airways flight to Doha. The suspect, a native of Enugu-East LGA, claimed to be a used-clothing trader and POS operator.
Theresa was intercepted at Terminal II, Screening Point during a routine check. The NDLEA said the drug was carefully wrapped and hidden in a specially modified underwear, often referred to as a “yansh pad”.
According to the agency, investigations are ongoing to uncover her sponsors and other members of the drug trafficking network.
NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, has repeatedly warned traffickers that the agency’s systems are tightening across all ports of entry and exit.
