NDLEA Arrests Two Drug Kingpins in Lagos, Seizes Cocaine and Heroin
Lagos, Nigeria – September 29, 2025 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two major drug traffickers in Lagos and seized significant quantities of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine intended for export to Europe. According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the arrests were made following intelligence-led operations targeting drug syndicates operating from Ikorodu and Lekki areas of Lagos. “The suspects were apprehended while packaging the drugs in parcels disguised as food items and body cream for shipment to Europe,” Babafemi stated. During the raid, NDLEA operatives uncovered 5.8 kilograms of cocaine, 3.1 kilograms of heroin, and 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, hidden in household items. The drugs have a street value running into hundreds of millions of naira in the international market.The two arrested suspects, both reportedly part of a transnational drug trafficking network, are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the operatives for the successful bust and reiterated the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking cartels across Nigeria. “This operation sends a strong message to drug traffickers — Nigeria is no longer safe for your illicit trade,” Marwa emphasized.
