NDLEA Arrests Suspected Drug Baron, Seizes Over 14,000kg of Skunk in Osun!

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a suspected major drug baron, Frank Ibemesi, popularly known as Chisco Bee, in Osun State, following an extensive surveillance operation.
Ibemesi was apprehended on Wednesday after operatives uncovered a massive warehouse where over 14,000 kilograms of skunk —a potent strain of cannabis—were stored for distribution across the southwest.
“This is one of the largest single seizures in recent months, and it deals a heavy blow to the illicit drug supply chain in the region,” said NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi.
Key Details:
- The warehouse was located in Ilesa, a key transit town for drug trafficking routes.
- The seized drugs were packed in hundreds of jumbo sacks, ready for interstate transport.
- Preliminary investigations link the suspect to a drug network stretching across at least four states.
Why It Matters:
- Skunk abuse has been linked to mental health crises and rising youth addiction rates.
- This bust disrupts a significant distribution hub in the southwest.
- NDLEA’s action reinforces its ongoing war against drug cartels operating within Nigeria.
What to Watch:
- Further arrests and possible exposure of interstate collaborators.
- Prosecution outcomes and court proceedings against Ibemesi.
- Impact on street-level drug supply in Osun and neighbouring states.
