Naval Chief Pledges to Combat Maritime Crimes, Secure Nigeria’s Waters

ABUJA, NIGERIA —The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to combating maritime crimes and ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria’s territorial waters and maritime environment. He made the pledge during an operational visit to inspect naval facilities and assess ongoing security efforts aimed at strengthening the country’s maritime domain. [1]Vice Admiral Abbas stressed that the Navy is determined to make Nigeria’s waters safe and secure for legitimate commerce, navigation, and economic activities, including shipping and fishing. He emphasised that the fight against threats such as crude oil theft, sea robbery, illegal bunkering, piracy, and other maritime crimes remains a priority, and that the service will continue to enhance its operational capability in collaboration with other security agencies.
