NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Camp in Zamfara!
Reported by Marian Opeyemi Fasesan | Sele Media Africa
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the successful execution of targeted airstrikes that destroyed a major terrorist stronghold in Zamfara State, as part of ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the northwest region.
The air interdiction, conducted on Thursday, reportedly neutralized several armed criminals and disrupted logistics used by the terror group responsible for attacks in the area.
“The precision strikes were based on credible intelligence and carried out to degrade the capabilities of terrorist elements operating in the forested region,” said NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.
Key Details:
- The operation was launched in the Dansadau axis, known as a hotbed for bandit activities.
- Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had identified movement of armed groups and makeshift structures used as hideouts.
- Multiple shelters, weapons caches, and motorcycles were destroyed in the raid.
Why It Matters:
- Zamfara continues to face security threats from armed bandits and terrorist groups, affecting farming, education, and local governance.
- The airstrikes form part of Operation Hadarin Daji, aimed at restoring peace in the northwest.
- Neutralizing such camps disrupts supply chains and limits the regrouping ability of insurgents.
What to Watch:
- Ground force follow-up operations to consolidate gains from the airstrike.
- Possible retaliatory attacks and implications for local security.
- Civilian safety and displacement issues in the affected zones.
