Meet Gyang Ezra Yakubu — The Gospel Voice of Berom Culture, Touching Souls Through Music
From the highlands of Fan District, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, emerges a fresh, powerful gospel voice whose mission is not just to sing, but to uplift, heal, and celebrate the divine gift of identity and heritage. His name is Gyang Ezra Yakubu, an upcoming gospel artiste whose music is rooted deeply in faith, culture, and purpose.
As the second born of six children, Gyang carries the heart of his people and the calling of God in every note he sings. Since launching his gospel music journey in 2023, he has already touched countless souls through his debut video album, “TOSHO MOT” (Our Cry) — a spiritually intense project that speaks to the heart of every listener going through life’s challenges.
“TOSHO MOT” – A Cry of Faith That Stirred Hearts
His first major project, “TOSHO MOT,” was not just an album—it was a revival in sound. Combining heartfelt lyrics, traditional undertones, and Berom-rooted gospel rhythm, the album resonated powerfully with communities across Plateau and beyond.
From churches to fellowships, and from community events to online platforms, Gyang Ezra’s voice became a reminder that God still speaks through music—and that gospel music can reflect both divine truth and cultural pride.
Collaboration with Gospel Icons
Despite being early in his career, Gyang has already caught the attention of established gospel greats. He has worked with:
- Daff Dee — the powerful voice behind Yesu Ya Mana Biya
- Makidi — the Dyam Vwel and Gwalagwas sensation
- And is set to feature Job Manja, the Yesu Ya Somu crooner, in his upcoming album.
These collaborations are not just features—they are spiritual alignments with those who see the fire of God in him and are willing to help him take it to the world.
Upcoming Album Launch: “JOGO BEROM” – A Celebration of Culture and Grace
Set to be launched on November 23, 2025, Gyang’s next project, “JOGO BEROM” (Berom Festivals), promises to be a masterpiece that blends gospel truth with cultural celebration.
According to Gyang:
“Jogo Berom is a song that tells us how beautiful and great the Berom culture is. It reminds us how lucky we are as a people. It’s a celebration of identity—a gift from God, given freely, not paid for. It’s a joyful, peaceful expression of our heritage.”
The album is expected to feature a rich fusion of traditional Berom sounds, biblical truth, and community celebration—a rare blend in gospel music that will stand out as both spiritually uplifting and culturally empowering.
