Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has issued a stern warning to all road contractors in the state to meet their project deadlines or face investigations by anti-corruption agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
Governor Umahi, during a recent inspection of ongoing road projects across Ebonyi, emphasized the need for accountability, timely delivery, and transparency in all state contracts. He expressed dissatisfaction with contractors who delay work, noting that such negligence affects the state’s development and frustrates the efforts of the government to improve infrastructure.
“I have directed the anti-graft agencies to monitor and investigate contractors who fail to meet deadlines or compromise the quality of work. We will not tolerate any form of corruption or delays that undermine progress,” Umahi stated.
The governor’s warning aligns with the broader national campaign to clamp down on corrupt practices within the public sector, particularly in infrastructural development, which often suffers from delays and substandard execution.
Contractors are urged to intensify their efforts and ensure all projects are completed within agreed timelines to avoid legal repercussions.
