
Man stabs relative to death over land dispute in Anambra!

Awka-Etiti, Anambra — The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 45-year-old Okwuchukwu Ezimuo for allegedly stabbing his relative, 65-year-old Joseph Dike, to death during a quarrel over a family land dispute in Umunocha Village, Awka-Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area.
According to the police, the incident occurred on the evening of 22 September 2025, when the suspect struck the deceased on the chest during a dispute about the land. The victim was rushed to a hospital but was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
Spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives from the Nnobi Police Division visited the scene, collected evidence including photographs, and later arrested the suspect, who is currently under interrogation.
The command said investigations are ongoing and that further legal action will follow once inquiries are concluded. Several local outlets reporting the case noted police are treating the matter as suspicious and probing circumstances surrounding the fatal quarrel.

Land disputes remain a recurring source of violent conflict in parts of southeastern Nigeria, where contested family and communal land rights sometimes escalate into deadly confrontations.
