Jos South PYC Ends Courtesy Tour with Powerful Visit to Za’ang Traditional Council
Reported by David Joshua
In a show of unity and purpose, the Jos South chapter of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC), led by Comr. Pam Dashe, paid a courtesy visit to the Za’ang Traditional Council yesterday, marking the final stop in their district-wide tour across the Local Government Area.
The tour, described as transformative, has drawn praise from across the community for its focus on youth engagement, anti-drug advocacy, and strengthening traditional-political ties. Many observers lauded the young, visionary leadership of Comr. Dashe, whose commitment to youth development has brought new energy to the council.
During the visit, several speakers emphasized unity, responsible leadership, and the urgent need to combat the growing drug abuse menace threatening the future of young people in Berom land.
Hon. Wilfred Pwajok encouraged youths to learn from elders and experienced leaders, highlighting that wisdom and mentorship are essential tools for effective leadership. He urged young people to avoid divisive politics and work together across affiliations.
Veteran Rwas Pwakim delivered a powerful message, calling on youths to raise their voices on issues that affect them while maintaining respect for elders and tradition. He warned against the rising culture of disrespect in politics, often fueled by godfatherism and political bitterness.
Comr. Ephraim also spoke passionately about youth involvement in community security and the need to be proactive in tackling challenges affecting Berom communities.
Responding, the Traditional Council of Za’ang, led by Dagwom Zaang, expressed deep concern over the rising levels of drug abuse among youth, describing it as a silent epidemic devastating families. He pledged the Traditional Council’s full support in partnering with PYC to intensify awareness and intervention campaigns.
Dagwom Zaang concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the PYC leadership, asking for strength, wisdom, and divine protection as they continue their mission.
In his vote of thanks, Comr. Pam Dashe expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged continued collaboration with traditional leaders to secure a brighter future for Jos South youth.
This visit marks not just the end of a tour—but the beginning of stronger partnerships between youth councils and traditional institutions, united in their vision for a better Plateau.
